CASH CATCHEM & DON PH3NOM - P.C.P (2008)

Listening to "P.C.P" was a ride of highs and lows. It's hard to find a gangsta style rap song that is original in today's hip hop age, and not every song completed this task, but it was better than most up and coming in regards to underground hip hop artists.
Cash Catchem, great rap name aside, has decent lyrics but would benefit to bring more emotion into his songs and delivery into his punch lines as well as over-all song presence. On this CD, it just doesn't seem like he was comfortable with his delivery and was more-so reading lyrics off his rhyme book rather than speaking from memorization and emotion. I enjoyed his songs "Super Pimp" and his verse on "Freestyle (Purple City.)" however, and I think that if given enough time in the studio, the right circle around him being up front with him, he could definitely develop to be a respectable artist.
Ph3nom's delivery, however, seems to be more well developed and with some growth lyrically, and song presence, could definitely be someone who can do damage on songs. I'd like to see Ph3nom do a solo CD just to give a better assessment of where he's at as a solo artist, given that "Gotta Survive" and "Take Me To The Limit" was hands down my personal favorite songs, being the best display of song structure and lyrical content from him, and it seems that he was the one who created the choruses and concepts for both songs.
All-in-all? I think if both artists put in work and develop at a reasonable rate, by Ph3nom's 3rd CD, and Cash Catchem's 4th CD? These will both be artists to be on the look out for in years to come if developed at a steady pace and works on being able to be related to by a wider variety of artists.

While the score is not endearing, and nothing necessarily jumps off the page, you can definitely see the potential in both artists. This CD will be the foundation in which both artists grow, but it will take work, a better studio, and honesty from their respective circles. I wholeheartedly believe that both artists can jump back and do damage in their next couple CDs.
